Nasnaga papers, 1972-1979.

The collection contains correpondence, 1972-1976, regarding the publishing and distribution of "Indians' Summer" and the attempt to sell movie rights to Warner Brothers. Also included are copies of "Indians' Summer" and two other works of Nasnaga: "Faces Beneath the Grass" (1979) and "Warriors" (1979).

Nasnaga was the pseudonym of Roger W. Russell, 1941-. He was a member of the Shawnee Nation, United Remnant Band which was comprised of mixed-blood Shawnee based in Ohio. Nasnaga wrote a novel, "Indians' Summer", published in 1975 by Harper and Row under its Native American Publishing Program. Russell was an artist and draftsman in Texas.
